Madrid, 30 May 2023-.  Representatives from ARIEMA's consultancy team attended a series of technical meetings held in the Peloponnese region (Greece) and in the regions of Madeira and Alenquer (Portugal) as part of the second European “Project Development Assistance” (PDA) programme.

This programme is an initiative promoted by the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (CH JU) of the European Union, aimed at organising and developing hydrogen technology demonstration projects in regions where hydrogen deployment has been limited to date.

As we mentioned previously, ARIEMA's role in the programme is to assist with the organisation and development of hydrogen technology demonstration projects in four of the selected regions, specifically the Peloponnese, Madeira, Galati and Alenquer. These regions are participating in the initiative alongside 13 other regions from seven European countries, namely: France, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and France. The programme is currently at a very preliminary stage, with each project still being defined.

Visit to Greece

Greek media have welcomed the arrival of the “Hydrogen Age” in the region following the first technical meeting attended by representatives from ARIEMA's consultancy team.

During the meeting, various measures were discussed to develop infrastructure plans and activities linked to the potential uses of hydrogen.

Visit to the island of Madeira

The ARIEMA team met with Madeira's Regional Secretary for Economy, Rui Barreto, who expressed the island government's commitment to launching a pilot project aimed at producing hydrogen from renewable energy sources, specifically wind energy. The hydrogen will be stored for subsequent use in passenger transport buses.

Visit to Alenquer

In this region of Portugal, ARIEMA visited the facilities of the Alenquer Municipal Library, where a pilot project involving the use of hydrogen in buildings is planned.

The meeting also included discussions on the potential uses of hydrogen based on the region's production figures.

At ARIEMA, we consider this initiative a unique opportunity to demonstrate our knowledge of the sector and put into practice the more than 20 years of experience we have gained in developing this energy carrier, which will play a key role in the decarbonisation of energy and economic processes.
