As we reported in June 2022, the consortium of companies specialising in project development, hydrogen technologies and collaboration with local authorities, of which ARIEMA is a member, was selected to participate in the second European “Project Development Assistance” (PDA) programme, an initiative launched by the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (CH JU), as a specialist hydrogen consultancy.

ARIEMA's role in the programme is to provide specialised hydrogen consultancy services to assist with the organisation and development of hydrogen technology demonstration projects in regions where hydrogen deployment has been limited to date.

The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (CH JU) has already selected 15 projects in cohesion countries, islands and outermost regions of the European Union. ARIEMA will support four of the projects in the selected regions, which come from ten different countries: Estonia (Estonian Islands and the City of Tartu), France (Regional Council of Réunion), Greece (Peloponnese Region), Ireland (Valentia Island), Latvia (Riga), Poland (City of Płock and Podkarpackie Region), Portugal (Autonomous Region of Madeira and Municipality of Alenquer), Romania (Cluj-Napoca and Municipality of Galati), Slovakia (Košice Self-Governing Region) and Slovenia (Central Sava Region, Velenje and Savinjsko-šaleška Region).

The projects proposed by the regions cover a wide range of hydrogen applications, from city buses and ferries connecting island communities to industrial applications and glass manufacturing.

This second PDA programme launched by the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (CH JU), a public-private partnership between an industry group and the European Commission, not only supports initiatives focused on developing the hydrogen sector, but also aims to expand the development and deployment of the European clean hydrogen technology value chain in order to strengthen its competitiveness and support businesses, particularly SMEs.

Ultimately, the “Project Development Assistance” (PDA) programme provides ARIEMA with the perfect opportunity to put into practice the knowledge gained through more than 20 years of effort and dedication in the hydrogen sector, while further strengthening its role as a technological leader in the industry.
